Stay at Holiday Inn London - Kensington Forum for the Royal Albert Hall
Holiday Inn London - Kensington Forum is a 4-star IHG hotel at 97 Cromwell Road, about 1.2 km (0.7 miles) from the Royal Albert Hall: roughly 15 minutes on foot, along Cromwell Road and up Queen's Gate. A standard room starts at £129 on weekdays, and the concierge and room service both run 24 hours, which matters when the show ends at 22:00.
Walking route measured 7 October 2026. Hall details checked on royalalberthall.com the same day.
How far is the hotel from the Royal Albert Hall?
The walk is 1,172 metres, 15 to 16 minutes at an easy pace, from the hotel door to the west side of the Hall. We measured it on OpenStreetMap's walking router on 7 October 2026. It is all pavement, with no park to cross:
- Leave 97 Cromwell Road and walk east along Cromwell Road, crossing Gloucester Road.
- Turn left (north) into Queen's Gate.
- Follow Queen's Gate to the top, where it meets Kensington Gore. The Hall is on your right, opposite the Albert Memorial.

The Box Office is at Door 12, through the Gift Shop. Black taxis wait on Kensington Gore by Door 6.
The tube rarely beats the walk. Gloucester Road station is 270 metres from the lobby, but the Hall's own getting-here guide puts South Kensington and High Street Kensington 10 to 15 minutes' walk from its doors, and it says neither station is step-free. For step-free travel the Hall points to Green Park, with bus 9 running directly to Kensington Gore. Our South Kensington station guide lists this autumn's line closures.
Concert night at a glance
Three numbers shape the evening: doors open 45 minutes before the start, you can bring one bag of up to 25 litres, and the Hall's own parking costs £11 at Imperial College.

| Doors | 45 minutes before the start on every event we checked. The event page has the exact time. |
|---|---|
| Tickets | Electronic. Show them on your phone with the brightness up, or print them. |
| Bags | One bag, no larger than 25 litres (about 40 × 30 × 20 cm). Every bag is searched. Extra or larger bags go in the cloakroom at £2 each, before main-auditorium events only. |
| Box Office | Door 12, through the Gift Shop. 09:00 to 21:00, or until 17:00 on days with no show. Closed at weekends with no performance. |
| Food and drink | No outside food or drink except water. Refill points are at Doors 3 and 9. |

Bag searches are why the Hall asks people to arrive earlier than usual. Leave the suitcase in the room, or with the hotel's free luggage storage on your last day, and walk over with one small bag.
Getting back after the show
The Hall gives only approximate end times, so plan the return rather than the clock. On foot, reverse the route: Kensington Gore, down Queen's Gate, right along Cromwell Road. It takes the same 15 to 16 minutes. Unlike the Hyde Park walk, there is no garden gate that locks at dusk.
For a taxi, black cabs can usually be hailed on Kensington Gore outside Door 6, and Door 6 helps with taxi bookings after the show. Minicabs have to be booked in advance.
Back at the hotel, The Forum Bar is open until 01:00 and room service runs 24 hours (hours on the dining page). The concierge is available 24/7.
Parking: the hotel or the Imperial College car park?
The Royal Albert Hall has no car park of its own. It sells pre-booked spaces at the Imperial College car park on Exhibition Road (sat nav SW7 2BX), about 5 minutes' walk from the Hall. A space costs £11.00 including the booking fee and is available from one hour before the start. There are no spaces for weekday matinees, and every car must leave by 23:59.
The hotel car park costs £35 a day and must be reserved in advance (hotel FAQ). If you are staying the night, that is the simpler plan: park once, walk to the Hall, and collect the car in the morning. The Hall is outside the Congestion Charge zone but inside the ULEZ, so check your car before you drive in. The Kensington congestion zone guide has the 2026 charges.
Blue Badge holders can usually park free at 1851 Place outside Door 8, entering via Bremner Road from Queen's Gate. It is subject to availability and booked through the Hall's access team.
Eating before the show
For a 19:30 start, doors open at 18:45. The Forum Restaurant at the hotel serves dinner from 18:00, which is tight once you add the 15-minute walk. The practical options are an early lunch or afternoon tea at the hotel, or dinner at the Hall itself.
The Hall's restaurants include The Elgar Room (South Indian, opens two hours before the show), Coda (seasonal French) and Verdi Italian Kitchen, which has a children's menu. They take deposits, and the Hall recommends booking. After the show, room service is the answer at any hour.

The cheapest version of a concert night here is a weekday standard room and no car. If the lowest IHG rate matters more than the walk, Holiday Inn Express London - Earl's Court is the budget option. Holiday Inn hotels near Kensington compares the two.
Make a day of it
The Hall sits on the south edge of Kensington Gardens, so a matinee pairs naturally with the palace. Our Kensington Palace visitor guide covers 2026 tickets and hours. The morning after, breakfast runs until 10:30 on weekdays and 11:00 at weekends in the hotel breakfast room. If you'd rather eat out, the Kensington breakfast guide lists seven breakfast spots within walking distance.
Book the stay
The direct rate is on IHG. Booking.com is the other checkout. A group, a pre-show dinner or a private event is a meetings enquiry, not a room button. Call 020 7368 4023 if you need the desk.
